Sinéad O'Connor: the cause of the singer's death is revealed

Sylvie Claire / January 10, 2024

Dublin singer Sinéad O'Connor died at the age of 56 last July. She had been found unconscious in her London home, and the British police had not considered her death "suspicious". The singer was buried in August, in the presence of several celebrities, including U2 singer Bono, Bob Geldof and the Irish President.

Sinéad O'Connor was best known for her famous cover of Prince's hit Nothing Compares 2 U. The song was named Single of the Year in 1990 at the Billboard Music Awards. The singer, who has struggled with bipolar disorder, has been in the news in recent years for her statements about her mental problems. In 2021, she published an autobiography in which she spoke particularly of her difficult childhood. She was also known for her fight against sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

Six months after her death was announced, the coroner's report concluded that Sinead O'Connor died of natural causes. As a result, the investigation was dropped.
