Paul Ritter (Eldred Worple in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) died at the age of 54

Paul Ritter died this week at the age of 54. The British star who played Eldred Worple in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, died of a brain tumor

 

It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Paul Ritter passed away last night, said his agent. He passed away peacefully at home with his wife Polly and sons Frank and Noah at his side. He was 54 years old and suffered from a brain tumor.

 

Paul was an exceptionally talented actor playing a huge variety of roles on stage and screen with extraordinary skill. He was extremely intelligent, kind and very funny. He will be greatly missed, commented his family.

 

Paul was best known in the UK for playing Martin Goodman throughout all six seasons of the Friday night dinner series and is also expected to appear in the 10th anniversary special later this year. He had recently played the role of Anatoli Diatlov in the series Chernobyl. He was the deputy chief engineer of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on the night of the disaster, April 26, 1986. He was supervising the tests that caused the disaster.
