Johnny Depp wins his case against Amber Heard, found guilty of defamation: the actor also convicted for the statements of his lawyer

Actor Johnny Depp emerged victorious Wednesday from his bitter, high-profile trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, even though jurors found that the two parties had defamed each other in the press.
 
Actress Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp by describing herself as a victim of domestic violence, a U.S. court jury concluded Wednesday at the end of a highly publicized trial that offered a glimpse into the intimacy of the two Hollywood stars.
 
The seven jurors answered in the affirmative when asked if the title and two passages of an op-ed, published in 2018 by Amber Heard, contained defamatory statements about Johnny Depp, according to their decision reading.
 
The jury awarded the actor $15 million in damages.
 
Actor Johnny Depp defamed his ex-wife Amber Heard through his lawyer, a U.S. court jury also found, awarding the actress $2 million in damages. The seven jurors found that Depp's lawyer, Adam Waldman, made defamatory statements when he called Amber Heard's sexual abuse allegations a stunt in the Daily Mail newspaper in 2020.
