The 60-year-old actor was in his vacation villa on Lake Como at the time of the floods that hit northern Italy. George Clooney did not hesitate to mingle with the locals to lend a hand.

Owner of a sumptuous villa on Lake Como, the American actor was staying there with his wife Amal and their two children when the terrible floods hit northern Italy. Torrential rains fell on their vacation home, but it seems to have been relatively unaffected.

The villages surrounding Lake Como were heavily affected. More than sixty people had to be rescued. That's why George Clooney didn't hesitate to roll up his sleeves to lend a hand to the stricken locals.

Photos were released by several media outlets showing the American actor standing with the residents and shopkeepers of Laglio. He told the Italian media: It's so much worse than everyone thinks. We were in Cernobbio and it was bad, but here in Laglio it's much worse. They think it will take years and millions of dollars to rebuild everything. This town has been here forever, it's going to stay up, it's going to get stronger and come back even better, it's a very resilient town.

George Clooney purchased Villa L'Oleandra in 2002 for $14 million. It is a building dating from the 18th century.
