Kelly Clarkson is set to take over Ellen DeGeneres' coveted time slot when the comedian steps down following low ratings and allegations of bullying and toxic behavior in the workplace. The Kelly Clarkson Show has secured a coveted new time slot for fall 2022.
The talk show will fill the void left by Ellen DeGeneres after her 19-year run ends next year. Ellen DeGeneres said she quit because she no longer felt challenged. She has been plagued by allegations that she fostered a toxic work environment.
Kelly Clarkson's show has become a hit thanks to its winning personality, casual interview style and celebrity guests. The show, currently in its second season, was renewed late last year for two more seasons through 2023.
These are remarkable results for a talk show that is only in its second season. We look forward to Ellen DeGeneres' 19th season with Kelly Clarkson in what is sure to be a successful year, said Valari Staab, president, NBCUniversal Local. By 2022, The Kelly Clarkson Show will be the star of our daytime entertainment programs and an asset to our early afternoon newscasts.
There were rumors that Drew Barrymore or Tiffany Haddish would take Ellen's place, but that turned out to be false.
The TV host confirmed in mid-May that the 19th series of The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be her last, and that she would be forever grateful to her fans for changing her life by watching the show. In a prerecorded video of her show, shared on her Twitter account, she told her virtual audience, I'm announcing that next season, season 19, will be my last season. You must know that the last 18 years have changed my life. You have all changed my life. I am forever grateful to all of you for watching, laughing, dancing and sometimes crying. This show has been the greatest experience of my life, and I owe it to you. So thank you.
