American singer R. Kelly, guilty of sex crimes, sentenced to 30 years in prison

The fallen American R&B star, R. Kelly, convicted in September 2021 in New York of running a system for years of sexual exploitation of young people, including teenage girls, was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison.

This heavy sentence against the 55-year-old singer was pronounced by the federal court of Brooklyn, where his trial nine months ago had raised the veil on the issue of sex crimes in the black community in the United States.

The U.S. Attorney's Office found him to be brazen, manipulative, controlling and coercive, showing no signs of remorse or respect for the law.

He did not say a word when the verdict was announced.
