The actor, now 24 years old, confessed to killing his mother to prevent her from witnessing his assassination plan against Justin Trudeau.
This statement was reported last Monday, by prosecutors in British Columbia (Canada) after a sentencing hearing for the actor who appeared in the series Riverdale.
According to the young man's confession, he shot his mother in the back of the head while she was playing the piano. This occurred on March 31, 2020. After shooting her, Ryan Grantham covered his mother's body with a sheet as well as several rosaries and candles arranged around the corpse, according to CBC.
After this horrific act, the Canadian actor planned to assassinate Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In his car, Ryan had taken three guns, ammunition and 12 Molotov cocktails. His plan was to drive to the capital of Canada, Ottawa.
He had planned to drive 50 hours, to kill Justin Trudeau. Along the way, the actor changed his mind and hesitated to commit an act of mass violence at a university, Simon Fraser University, where he had dropped out a few years earlier.
But before committing a second crime, the remorseful actor went to the Vancouver police to confess his crime. He pleaded guilty to second degree murder. Prosecutors estimate that the actor should serve 17 to 18 years before possible parole.
