Freedom Convoy - Canada: Court Orders Lifting of Ambassador Border Bridge Blockade

Steph Deschamps / February 12, 2022

The Ontario Superior Court on Friday ordered the lifting of a blockade by anti-sanitation protesters of the border bridge that connects Ontario, Canada to Detroit, U.S., Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens announced.

Since Monday, Freedom Convoy protesters have been blocking the Ambassador Bridge on the trade route between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of Michigan. Injunction accepted. The judge ruled that the protesters must leave by 19:00 local saturday, tweeted the elected official. The bridge, a major border route between the two U.S. neighbors, has been closed since Monday, causing disruptions to the auto industry on both sides of the border, as the supply of parts stagnates. Earlier Friday, the Ontario government declared a state of emergency to try to end the blockage.
