Drama in a Canadian national park: a couple and their dog don't survive a grizzly bear attack - the bear has been shot!

Sylvie Claire / October 7, 2023

A walk in Banff National Park in the Canadian state of Alberta turned tragic on Friday evening. While out with their dog, a man and a woman were attacked by a grizzly bear. The couple and their pet did not survive.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but were unable to save the two Canadians. They were also forced to shoot the bear because of its aggressive behavior.

Kim Titchener, founder of the NGO "Bear Safety and More", commented after the fatal attack: "More and more people are rediscovering nature, which makes further attacks inevitable. They often don't know how to react properly. Bear encounters and attacks are also more frequent in autumn, when the animals are looking for food to help them hibernate ».
