Canada: several victims in a shooting in British Columbia, the suspect apprehended

Steph Deschamps / July 25, 2022

Multiple victims were counted Monday morning in the center of a western Canadian city after several shootings, police said, and they apprehended a suspect.

There were multiple victims and multiple shootings, Rebecca Parslow, a spokeswoman for Canadian police in Langley, near Vancouver, told AFP, but did not say whether any of the victims had died.
One man is in custody, she added, saying police were investigating whether other suspects were involved.
According to Canadian media reports, the man may have deliberately targeted homeless people in the city.

An alert message had been issued, around 06h15 local to the population, mentioning several crime scenes in downtown Langley, a city of 130,000 people located about 40 km southeast of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Authorities indicated in this message that they had had an interaction with a suspect without knowing at this time if others were involved.
A second alert was sent out an hour later explaining that the suspect was no longer a threat and again urging the public to stay away.
The initial alert described a Caucasian male with dark hair, wearing brown coveralls and a blue and green T-shirt with a red logo on the right sleeve.
