Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and Alexander De Croo visit the Pfizer plant in Puurs

 Eva Deschamps / June 16, 2021

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, currently traveling in Europe, made a stop in Belgium, including a visit to vaccine manufacturer Pfizer's facility in Puurs.

In Canada, as in Belgium, Pfizer's vaccine is the backbone of the ongoing vaccination campaign in Canada. The Puurs plant played an important role in the early days of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Canada.

The majority of Canadians have already received their first injection of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which is largely produced in this country, before additional doses, produced by Pfizer in the U.S., are supplied to Canadian vaccination centers.

The Canadian Prime Minister's visit to Puurs is a further recognition of Belgium's important role in international vaccine production and in the fight against the coronavirus.
