A three-year-old killed his one-year-old sister with an unattended handgun at a home in San Diego, California, local authorities said Tuesday.
It is not yet known who reported the shooting on Monday morning, nor where the children's parents were at the time of the incident.
Police patrols found the one-year-old girl suffering from "head trauma", authorities said.
The child was taken to Palomar Hospital, where she died of her injuries an hour later. Local authorities are currently gathering more information about the incident.
