Magic show in California: hundreds of dolphins have a blast at sea

Steph Deschamps / August 13, 2020

Hundreds of dolphins "jostle" off the coast of southern California.

The pod of around 300 common dolphins were seen off the coast near Dana Point in Southern California, to the amazement of whale watchers.

The behavior of the dolphins can best be described as porpoising "said Dave's Dana Point Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari captain.

The porpoise is the fast swimming of small species consisting of a series of horizontal jumps performed at high speed out of the water.

According to the shipping company, there are more baby dolphins than usual this time of year, resulting in some very beautiful images like those captured off Dana Point.

The site is said to have the highest density of dolphins in the world, with a population of 450,000 common dolphins.
