In the United States, a 6 year old girl, who had been missing for 2 years, has been found alive. Placed in a foster home, she had been kidnapped by her biological parents and hidden in a secret room at her grandfather's home in Saugerties, New York.
On Monday, with new information, investigators searched the house. After a four-hour search, they found Paislee in a trap door under the stairs leading to the basement.
An investigator took a flashlight and looked between the cracks between the steps. He saw what he thought was a blanket. They then used a break-in tool and started ripping the steps out of the staircase. At one point, they saw little feet, said Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra.
Paislee is healthy, but she hasn't been to school for two years. In the neighborhood, neighbors are stunned. Oh my God, I can't believe this, everything was as normal as it could be except for the fact that they have playground equipment and no children. I never saw the little girl outside and I'm here all the time because I'm retired, says Annette Wrolsen, a neighbor.
The little girl has been returned to her adoptive parents where she will join her older sister. Her parents and grandfather will appear in court on Wednesday.
