In the U.S. state of Alabama, a 13-year-old boy was shot in his home through his bedroom window. The boy died at the scene, according to police in the city of Tuscaloosa.
Police are not assuming an accident, but believe that the child was not the target of the attack. Numerous bullet casings were found outside the family's home.
It was a deliberate shooting, but (the teenager) was probably not the target, said Officer Marty Sellers, quoted by CNN news channel.
The boy was playing with a tablet in his room Friday night when bullets fired at the residence went through the window and hit the boy in the head.
Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley called the shooting a senseless murder.
There are possible suspects, said Sellers, who called on possible eyewitnesses to come forward to police.
