The Ukrainian army announced Monday morning that it had retaken more than 20 localities in 24 hours as part of its counter-offensive against the Russian army.
The liberation of localities from Russian invaders continues in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions (east), the army said in its morning report. Across the frontline, Ukrainian forces managed to drive the enemy out of more than 20 localities in 24 hours, it added.
During their retreat, the Russian troops abandoned their positions hastily and fled, the army said in its report.
Ukraine claims to have retaken about 3,000 square kilometers of its territory, mainly in the Kharkiv region, since the beginning of September.
On Sunday evening, several regions in the east, north, south and center of the country suffered extensive power cuts, blamed on Russian strikes by the Ukrainian authorities. Near Kharkiv, the thermal power plant number 5, the second largest in the country, was affected, according to the Presidency.
The power was quickly restored in some of the affected areas. In the Kharkiv region, 80% of the electricity and water supply has been restored, a deputy head of the presidency Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on Telegram Monday morning.
