War in Ukraine: Ukraine and Canada commit to long-term cooperation

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Monday the continuation of their long-term cooperation program.
The two leaders had a telephone conversation on Monday after which the head of the Canadian government pledged to support "Ukraine for as long as it takes ».
"Canada will continue to provide military, humanitarian and financial assistance to them," Trudeau assured in a tweet.
In his daily televised address, the Ukrainian president praised the "long-term defense cooperation program between Ukraine and Canada ».
"Canada has already started confiscating Russian assets," Zelensky said, adding that "this is a significant example for all other countries in the world. »
Canada has already trained more than 36,000 Ukrainian soldiers since September 2015 and this mission has been extended until March 2025.
The country announced in March that its mission to train Ukrainian engineers was extended until October and announced its decision to provide combat medicine training.
In mid-April, the eight Leopard 2 tanks promised by Ottawa to Kiev arrived in Poland. These 55-ton machines are one of the key components of the Canadian arsenal, and are among its most advanced equipment.
