According to him, the four corpses were found on Sunday and bore traces of torture. Three of them were buried on the territory of family properties, another was buried on the territory of the asphalt plant opposite the railway station, he said on Facebook.

According to the preliminary version of the investigation, the victims were killed by the Russian military during the occupation of the village, the Ukrainian prosecutor's office continued.

According to him, it was the residents who approached the law enforcement agencies and reported that Russian servicemen had killed their fellow citizens after the village came under Ukrainian control last week.

The NGO Amnesty International on Monday called on the Ukrainian authorities to prioritize the collection of evidence of alleged war crimes in the territories recently retaken from Russian forces.

The collection of such evidence is extremely resource-intensive, and we therefore call on the international community to provide resources that will support Ukraine's efforts, the organization pleaded in a statement.

Ukraine has announced in recent days significant territorial gains in the region of Kharkiv, bordering Russia in the northeast of the country, which was partially under Russian occupation since the beginning of the war.

In another village in the region, in Grakowe, where AFP journalists saw destruction testifying to the violence of the fighting, the Prosecutor's Office also reported having discovered the bodies of two civilians, with traces of torture and bullet holes in the back of the head.

Russian forces have been accused of multiple abuses during their occupation of the suburbs of Kiev, particularly in Boutcha, from which they withdrew at the end of March.

Moscow, for its part, denied any crime and assured that it was a matter of falsification.
