Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived Wednesday morning in Poland for his first official visit to the country, announced the Polish Presidency.
"Mr. President has crossed the Polish border. He is on Polish territory," Marcin Przydacz, an adviser to the Polish presidency, told TVN24, without giving details.
A formal welcoming ceremony is to be held at 11:00 a.m. in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw, he added.
The detailed program of this one-day visit was not revealed, except for the opening ceremony and a public meeting, in the courtyard of the royal castle, at 18H00.
Zelensky is scheduled to meet with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda, head of government Mateusz Morawiecki and other officials, to discuss "security, international and economic relations but also sensitive historical issues" between the two countries, said Przydacz.
Poland, a neighboring country of Ukraine, is among the states most involved in helping Kiev since the Russian invasion that began in February 2022 and serves as a logistical platform for military and humanitarian aid deliveries.
Warsaw announced Monday that it had delivered the first MiG-29 fighters promised to Ukraine. Mr. Duda had announced in mid-March the delivery of four aircraft, a first for a NATO member.
Poland also delivered 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine in February-March.
At the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Poles welcomed Ukrainian refugees in large numbers.
