The volleyball used as a prop in the movie Alone in the World (2000) was sold at auction for $308,000, according to BBC News.
In the film, Tom Hanks plays a man stranded on a desert island. The ball, whom he calls Wilson, is his only friend. As he tries to survive on the island, Hanks talks to Wilson to keep his sanity.
According to the Prop Store auction house, the balloon was made to look dirty and spent a lot of time in the water during filming. Hanks received a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role in this Robert Zemeckis film
