This picture may ring a bell. During the summer of 2020, a photo of Mark Zuckerberg with his face spread with sunscreen made the buzz on social networks and in the media, giving rise to some very funny detour. As reported by The Independent, during an Instagram live, the Facebook founder finally explained why he had so much sunscreen on his face that day
In July 2020, Mark Zuckerberg was enjoying the Hawaiian beaches for surfing, when suddenly a paparazzi showed up. The result? A totally unusual shot of the man with his face covered in sunscreen. At the time, the photo had made the rounds of social networks and the media. In an Instagram live, the Facebook boss finally explained why he had put so much cream on his face that day.
In fact, the businessman thought he was going incognito by covering his face with a thick layer of cream. I really should have thought about it more. I had noticed that there was this paparazzi. He was following us, so I thought, 'Oh, I don't want him to recognize me, so you know what I'll do? I'll just put a ton of sunscreen on my face, he explained. And it backfired. I'll admit, no one needs to put on that much sunscreen.
Despite the hijacking of the photo on social photos, Zuckerberg keeps smiling and humorous. I'm glad people can laugh about it. I laugh about it and I think it's pretty funny, he assured.
Another explanation
In July 2020, when the photo had been published, the founder of Facebook had advanced another explanation for his look. He had certified that he had not realized how much cream he had used. I'm not someone who has the illusion that I look particularly cool with what I'm doing. But it's true, when you're surfing in Hawaii, you feel like you're awesome. And then you go on the internet, you see this picture and you realize what you looked like. So I thought, 'Okay. Okay. Maybe I overdid it on the sunscreen.
