Twelve children and one adult were taken to hospital Monday after a ceiling collapsed at a London school. Sixteen people with minor injuries were also treated at the scene, according to emergency officials.
Firefighters deployed three vehicles and about 20 men to the scene after receiving a report from the school. The ceiling of a second floor classroom collapsed for reasons still unknown. The entire building was evacuated. According to investigators, there is no longer a risk of further collapse.
The school in question is a private educational institution for children aged 2.5 to 11 years. We are working closely with authorities to determine the cause of the incident, the school said.
