At least 15 people were injured by a leopard in the Indian town of Jorhat, in the state of Assam. The animal had been roaming around the town, which is located near a large forest, for several days. It could be captured in the meantime.
ANI news agency footage shows the leopard jumping over a fence and then onto a car. The injured man was taken to the hospital with bite wounds.
According to the statements of the head of the Wildlife Trust of India to the local media, the animal was captured on Tuesday. The leopard suffered multiple fractures to one leg and is being treated.
In India, conflicts between humans and wild animals such as tigers and leopards are common. As forests are cleared en masse, urban settlements are moving closer and closer to the predators' habitat.
