Twelve people, including children, were injured when fireworks exploded at a private New Year's Eve party in Berlin, local fire officials reported Friday night.
All were taken to hospital. The youngest victim is 11 years old.
Based on their initial observations, police believe illegal fireworks were used given the number and severity of the injuries, according to a spokesperson.
