A large crowd is expected on the route of the funeral convoy. Three days after her death in her Scottish castle of Balmoral, Queen Elizabeth II began her last journey on Sunday 11 September: her coffin left Balmoral for Edinburgh, before her solemn return to London on Tuesday for her state funeral on 19 September. The royal hearse is due to leave the residence where the monarch liked to spend the summer, at 11 am (Paris time) by road, to arrive in the Scottish capital, around 5 pm after a journey of nearly 300 kilometers.
The crowd was asked not to throw flowers as the convoy passed, so as not to disturb the meticulous arrangement of the journey.
