About 15 people are still missing Sunday evening after the collapse of the Marmolada glacier in the Italian Alps, reports the Ansa news agency.
A huge block broke off Sunday afternoonfrom the glacier of the Queen of the Dolomites, causing an avalanche that left at least six dead and eight injured.
The rescue services fear that the number of victims will increase.
Sixteen cars, whose owners have not yet been found, have been counted in the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, from where the climbing trails start.
We do not know yet if the cars belong to dead or missing persons, or to persons who have nothing to do with the accident said the president of the autonomous province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti.
Search operations for possible survivors were to resume Monday after the collapse of part of the Marmolada glacier, the largest in the Italian Alps, due to the heat wave.
