Firefighters responded in large numbers to extinguish the fire, near London Station. Witnesses reported seeing a fireball explode.

A major fire broke out near Elephant and Castle station in London, after an explosion on the London Underground. A huge release of black smoke is visible over the British capital.

According to witnesses, an explosion and a big fireball appeared from underneath the station. We opened the window for a second because we could hear people screaming, and we smelled a very strong odor, Sara Scarpa, who lives near the station, tells the Mirror.

According to British press reports, about 100 firefighters responded to the incident. The circumstances remain unknown for now, but it is not believed that the incident is related to terrorism, said the Metropolitan Police on social networks.

Trains can temporarily no longer stop at the station, it is unknown at this time if there are any injuries.
