Eva Deschamps / January 20, 2023

Olympe, a 23-year-old French woman, suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and lives with ten different personalities. Her life has been marked by many traumatic events and her daily life has become a living hell. The YouTube artist recently made the difficult decision to end her life. As assisted suicide is still prohibited in France, the young woman turned to Belgium, where she is already in contact with doctors.
Followed by more than 251,000 people, it was first in a story immediately removed and then on Instagram, six days ago, that the young woman made this shock announcement. "The last quarter of 2023, I will have recourse to assisted suicide in Belgium," she dropped. "I am already in contact with the doctors."
If Olympe had to go back twice to make this heavy announcement, it is because she suffered in just 10 minutes of publication a huge amount of reactions that she did not appreciate. "If I removed the story, it is not so that people appropriate the information and continue to spin it and make debates," she explains. "It's not a debate, it's my life, it's a decision I made that wasn't easy to make. »
In her lengthy Instagram post, Olympus justifies her choice and seems pretty adamant. "My limits have been pushed to the extreme over the last few years. I am very tired... I don't wish anyone on this earth to ever have to think about this (...) I'm exhausted, you haven't lived my life (...) You don't have to debate my decision, my life, it's not a movie, it's not a Netflix series," she launches.
Obviously decided to complete her project, Olympe explains nevertheless to give herself until the end of the year to change her mind and says "not closed to something happening". And if she seems to believe in it, one thing is sure: she calls for the respect of the Internet users and asks them not to judge her decision.
