The ranking of the first round of the presidential election in France remains unchanged at the end of the count.
Emmanuel Macron came out on top Sunday at the end of the first round of the presidential election with 27.85% of the votes cast, ahead of Marine Le Pen (23.15%), whom he will face in the second round, and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, eliminated despite his 21.95%, according to the final results of the Ministry of the Interior.
Abstention reached 26.31% of registered voters, the highest level for a first round of a presidential election after 28.4% in 2002. Nearly 13 million voters out of 48.74 million registered voters did not vote on Sunday.
There were also 543,650 blank votes (1.12% of registered voters), and 237,004 null votes (0.49%).
Marine Le Pen (RN) came out on top in 20,036 communes and Emmanuel Macron (LREM) in 11,861 communes, out of a total of 35,080 communes.
Behind the leading trio, no other candidate managed to pass the 10% mark. Eric Zemmour, 4th, obtained 7.07%. Then come Valérie Pécresse (4.78%) and Yannick Jadot (4.63%) who even finished under the 5% mark, crucial for the reimbursement of campaign expenses.
Jean Lassalle (3.13%), Fabien Roussel (2.28%) and Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (2.06%) are ahead of Anne Hidalgo (1.75%), while Philippe Poutou (0.77%) and Nathalie Arthaud (0.56%) finish in the last two places.
