A man robbed Tuesday afternoon the store of the jeweler Chaumet, near the Champs-Elysees in Paris, laying hands on a booty valued between 2 and 3 million euros, said a source close to the case, confirming information from Le Parisien.
The robber, who came on a scooter, burst into the famous jewelry store at about 17:00 with a handgun and was given jewels and precious stones, without violence, before leaving also on a scooter, the same source added.
An investigation of flagrante delicto for robbery with a weapon was opened and the investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the Repression of Banditry (BRB), the Paris prosecutor's office told AFP.
This store is located on rue François Ier, near the Champs-Elysées.
Chaumet is best known around the world for its historic Place Vendôme store which was robbed in 2009. Precious stones worth 1.9 million euros were stolen.
