At the Malherbe high school in Caen, a teacher in her forties was stabbed twice by a student at around 11am on Tuesday 13 September. The victim's vital prognosis, immediately taken to the emergency room, is not engaged. The student was arrested by the police.
It was in a corridor of the high school that the drama occurred. Between two classes, a French teacher was stabbed twice by a student. The firemen and the police officers intervened quickly, helping the teacher with a neck wound and arresting the attacker.
The public prosecutor, contacted by Ouest-France, told the newspaper that the alleged perpetrator has been arrested and that the teacher's life is not in danger. The mayor of Caen, Joël Bruneau, immediately went to the scene.
The principal of Malherbe high school, the second largest in the city with 1500 students, said he was shocked. Jean-Christophe Bidet added that the entire educational community condemns this absolutely unspeakable act and gives its full support to the teacher and to all the witnesses of this aggression.
A listening and psychological support unit was set up for all the students as well as for the teachers and school staff. Psychologists took care of the students of the second year class, which included the student who was the aggressor.
