Jason Alexander, briefly married to the star in 2004, had been arrested after crashing the wedding ceremony of the singer and her fiancé Sam Asghari.
An ex-husband of pop superstar Britney Spears was charged with stalking in a U.S. court on Monday, after inviting himself to the singer's wedding ceremony by filming himself live on Instagram. Britney Spears, 40, and her fiancé Sam Asghari, 28, were in the midst of preparations when the intruder showed up at their luxurious mansion in Thousand Oaks, California, entertainment and celebrity publications such as Variety and TMZ had reported.
Jason Alexander, 40, a childhood friend of the singer to whom she was very briefly married in 2004 (for only 55 hours), had been stopped by police. According to Ventura County court documents, Jason Alexander, who appeared via Zoom from jail, was charged with harassment as well as trespassing, vandalism and assault. He pleaded not guilty and the judge issued a restraining order requiring him to stay more than 100 yards away from the singer. His bail was set at $100,000 and a hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday.
Britney Spears' attorney, Mathew Rosengart, told reporters he was pleased with the way the Ventura County Sheriff's Department handled the serious matter. According to the sheriff's department, Jason Alexander was also wanted for theft, embezzlement and possession of stolen property.
