The Italian singer and composer Franco Gatti, interpreter of the hit "Sarà perché ti amo" with the group "Ricchi e poveri", died at the age of 80 years, announced Tuesday the media of the peninsula.
Franco Gatti had for several years health problems and had retired from the music scene in 2013, after the death of his son Alessio.
The group "Ricchi e poveri", born in the 60s in Genoa, became famous in Italy and abroad in the 70s and 80s, selling more than 20 million records during its career.
The song "Sarà perché ti amo" (It must be because I love you), released in 1981, will appear four years later on the soundtrack of the film "L'Effrontée" by Claude Miller with Charlotte Gainsbourg.
The group represented Italy at Eurovision in 1978 and won the Italian Song Festival in San Remo in 1985, an institution in the peninsula that captivates millions of fans every year.
