Yardbirds founding guitarist Anthony "Top" Topham has died at age 75 after a battle with dementia.
The Yardbirds' founding guitarist Anthony "Top" Topham has died at the age of 75 after a battle with dementia, The Sun reports. The death comes two weeks after his successor at the Yardbird Jeff Beck died of bacterial meningitis.
Anthony Topham was one of the founding members of the Yardbirds, he left the band shortly before it broke through. He was then replaced by Eric Clapton before Jeff Beck became the band's lead guitarist and Jimmy Page replaced him.
After joining the Subud spiritual movement, the blues guitarist later adopted the name Sanderson Rasjid.
He passed away Monday after a battle with dementia.
