The actor Sylvester Stallone was afraid to die during the shooting of Rocky IV, reports the website 45 Seconds. It was a fight scene between Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago, played by actor Dolph Lundgren. The actors played the role of opposing boxers in the fourth film of the saga, released in 1985.
The 75-year-old actor recalled the moment in a video posted on his YouTube channel, The Making of Rocky vs. Drago by Sylvester Stallone.
The first thing we shot was my entrance, his entrance and the introductions, and then I got injured in the fight and had to be flown from Canada to California in intensive care, said the The Expendables actor.
He continued, He pulverized me. I didn't feel it at the time, but later that night my heart started to swell. My blood pressure went up to 260 and I was going to talk to the angels, the next thing I know I'm on this low-level emergency flight.
I'm in intensive care surrounded by nuns and after that I had to go back and finish the fight, he added
Stallone went on to explain that he was in intensive care for four days before returning to film the rest of the final fight scene, adding that the powerful blow to Lundgren's chest is what's in the original film.
