Warning SPOILER! If you're a fan of the Stranger Things series and don't want to know more about the secret of Will Byers' character, stop reading immediately. However, if this question has been nagging at you since the first season, you're about to learn why Will Byers was sometimes very uncomfortable in Season 4 of Stranger Things, in the presence of his best friend Mike Wheeler, who came to visit him in California.
He is gay and he loves Mike. The actor Noah Schnapp has confirmed the theory that many people have been speculating about for several weeks on social networks. Noah Schnapp confirmed that his Stranger Things character, Will Byers, is gay and in love with his best friend Mike Wheeler, admitting that he prefers to remain cautious on the subject to avoid spoiling fans.
In a recent interview with Variety magazine, the 17-year-old actor talked about growing up alongside his on-screen character and the importance of evolving his sexuality.
Obviously, this was already hinted at in season 1: it was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just that he's growing up slower than his friends? Now that he's gotten older, they've made it something very real and obvious. Now it's 100% clear that he's gay and that he loves Mike. But before, it was a slow progression. Noah explained that not having Will all of a sudden be gay was beautifully thought out, adding that it was important to see this gradual representation for viewers who can see their past reflected in his character.
