Prince Laurent fined 200 euros for late technical inspection

Prince Laurent was fined 200 euros on Friday by the police court of Leuven for an outdated technical inspection certificate.
The Prince explained in court that he had only driven this vehicle a few times, while waiting for his inspection appointment. He had been checked in June 2021 by traffic cameras in Tervuren while driving an ancestor that had not been inspected since 2014.
He also said that the car, which he has owned since his marriage, had been in his garage for some time. I had removed the plates and it was no longer registered, said Prince Laurent.
When he used the vehicle again, he registered it and bought insurance, he said at the hearing. It was difficult to get an appointment with the technical control, he defended himself. I have health problems and, with the Covid, I could not get to the control. It took time, that's all.
The police judge found that the offence was proven and applied the law. In addition to the 200 euro fine, the Prince will also have to pay 80 euro in legal fees and pay 22 euro to the second line legal aid fund (intended to allow people to use the services of a 'pro-deo' lawyer).
Prince Laurent indicated that he would not appeal the judge's decision.
