The mood is doubly festive for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The couple returned to the United Kingdom this week to participate in the many celebrations planned to mark the 70th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. This Saturday, they also celebrate the first birthday of Lilibet, their youngest daughter, who discovers by the same occasion the country of her dad, for the first time. The British media have confirmed that the little girl has finally met her great-grandmother, as planned on Thursday, June 2. According to the British media, the sovereign had invited her grandson, his wife, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, for a private lunch at Windsor Castle, after the Trooping the Color parade.
The two namesakes (Lilibet and the nickname that the queen had given herself as a child, when she could not pronounce her first name), should, moreover, meet again this Saturday, in order to celebrate the birthday of the youngest. Several tabloids have, in fact, announced that a small celebration should take place in family for the occasion. The queen, who has been absent for the jubilee festivities this Saturday, in order to rest, would be even more willing to participate. And although fans of the British royal family would love to see images of the meeting or anniversary appear, it will probably be nothing. I think people are expecting an extravagant birthday party and to see pictures. From what I'm told, we shouldn't expect that. These moments with Lilibet and the queen are very private and we know how much she was looking forward to this, said Omid Scobie, a journalist specializing in the royals.
While waiting for a possible celebration in person, the other members of the family sent their wishes to little Lilibet. We wish a very happy first birthday to Lilibet today! announced Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla on their Twitter account. Prince William and Kate did the same on the social network posting, We wish a very happy birthday to Lilibet, who turns one today!
