There is no reason why the situation in Ukraine should not move the luxury and high fashion industry. This Sunday, February 27, Giorgio Armani wanted to pay tribute to the crisis situation in Ukraine and offered a show in silence to present his fall/winter 2022-2023 collection. The show was introduced by the voice of the Italian designer indicating that his decision not to use music during the show as a gesture of respect to those involved in the tragedy that is currently unfolding in Ukraine.
Later, when asked by Vogue magazine, he explained his choice: What could I do? I could only signal my heartbeat for tragedy through silence. I didn't want runway music. The best thing to do is to signal that we are not happy, to acknowledge that something disturbing is happening.
This is not the first time that Giorgio Armani is committed and makes such decisions. In February 2020, he was one of the first to turn away the public during his fashion show in the face of the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic.
