Died at the age of 27 years, the British artist suffered from a strong addiction to alcohol and drugs. She was booed by the audience at her last concert in June 2011 in Belgrade, visibly intoxicated. The tour was cancelled and Amy Winehouse died a month later.
That evening, she wore a green and black mini dress with flower and bamboo motifs, designed by stylist Naomi Parry. The garment is estimated between 15,000 and 20,000 dollars by Julien's Auctions, which is organizing the auction on Saturday and Sunday.
In total, more than 800 lots, all of which belonged to the star, are offered for sale: dresses, bustiers, pants, shorts, shoes, glasses, musical instruments, books, records, etc. The proceeds of the sale could reach a total of two million dollars.
These personal items are being offered for sale by the singer's parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse. It's very difficult to have an auction with the parents of a deceased child, said Martin Nolan, director of Julien's Auctions, when he presented the lots in New York last month.
According to him, Amy Winehouse's parents want to preserve their daughter's legacy and memory through this sale and raise funds for their foundation to help young adults suffering from drug and alcohol addictions.
