American actor Angus Cloud, known as one of the stars of the series "Euphoria", died on Monday at the age of 25, his family announced. The cause of death was not disclosed. The actor portrayed drug dealer Fezco "Fez" O'Neill in the multi-Emmy Award-winning HBO series.
The actor's family shared a heartbreaking message to announce his passing: "It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week, he buried his father and struggled intensely with the loss. The only comfort we have is knowing that Angus is now reunited with his father, who was his best friend (...) We hope the world remembers him for his humor, his laughter and his love for everyone," she announced in a statement.
The actor had been coping with the recent death of his father and was suffering from mental health issues, the family explains. "Angus spoke openly about his struggle with mental illness, and we hope his passing will remind others that they are not alone and should not fight alone in silence," the statement reads.
The cause of death has not been revealed. According to the famous American website TMZ, Angus Cloud's mother called 911 at around 11:30 am on Monday, reporting a "possible overdose" before he was finally pronounced dead on the spot.
The series "Euphoria" is one of HBO's biggest successes. It chronicles the dark lives of contemporary American teenagers, for whom drug addiction and sexual violence are part of everyday life. The series gave Angus Cloud his first role. He was spotted by a casting director while walking with friends in the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
