Maxime, 5, was saved from a very rare disease in Mouscron: it is a 1st world medical!

The news caused a stir in the medical community. Novadip, specializing in tissue regeneration research targeting non-healing fractures, has succeeded, through the development of three-dimensional cell therapy, in healing the tibia of a child with a rare disease. After two years, the results are conclusive and the child can walk again

Maxime is only 5 years old, but he already experienced immense suffering in his young life. He was born with congenital nonunion of the tibia, a rare and terribly debilitating disease.

Simply put, the little boy was born with a defect in the structure of the tibia bone. The bone deforms and then breaks, and the fracture never heals. It is a painful and frustrating condition for the patient, his parents and the doctors. There is no satisfactory treatment. It requires repeated surgeries, which are very heavy and can lead to amputation if no solution is found.

Faced with this delicate situation, Professor Pierre-Louis Docquier, who was at an impasse, decided to call on the know-how of the company Novadip Biosciences where Justine Fourmeau works, a 37-year-old bioengineer from Mouscron who has joined the company in 2017.
