Manhunt in Canada: the 2nd suspect of the deadly attacks died after his arrest

Sylvie Claire / September 8, 2022

The vast manhunt engaged for several days in Canada ended Wednesday: the last suspect of the attacks that killed ten people and injured 18 on Sunday in central Canada was arrested and died shortly after.

Hundreds of police officers have been tracking Myles Sanderson for more than three days, suspected of being responsible, with his brother Damien Sanderson, found dead on Monday, of these attacks whose motive remains unexplained.

It is one of the most deadly attacks in the country in recent years.

Shortly after his arrest, Myles Sanderson went into medical distress, said RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore to the press, without elaborating on the cause.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital, she added.

By late afternoon, the police had announced his arrest on social networks: Myles Sanderson has been located and taken into custody before thanking the public for providing relevant information for his capture.

However, authorities are concerned that the motives for these attacks in the middle of Saskatchewan, a vast rural area of immense prairies, remain unknown.

Now that Myles is dead, we may never be able to understand his motives, added Rhonda Blackmore, noting that more than 120 interviews with family members and witnesses have already been conducted but have failed to shed any light on his motives.

The 32-year-old suspect, who was armed with a knife, was spotted after stealing a car in an area about 100 kilometers from the crime scene.
